La principale difficulté des Andes reste les vents violents, les brises et les difficultés pour poser. Voici une petite vidéo d’un posé avec du vent qui vient de tous les côtés !

World records of altitude gain beaten during the crossing of the cordillera and the flight over the Aconcagua! Altitude of departure: 1349m, maximum altitude 7203m. A difference of 5854m. The old record was 4526m and dated from 1993. I was completely frozen! We can see the ice in my beard…

Records du monde de gain d’altitude battu durant la traversée de la cordillère et le survol de l’Aconcagua ! Altitude de départ : 1349m, altitude maximum 7203m soit une différence de 5854m. L’ancien record était de 4526m et datais de 1993.
J’étais comlétement congelé! On peut voir la glace dans la barbe…

Le Chili est un pays étroit qui est bordé par les Andes. De ce fait il est difficile de réaliser des vols en triangle FAI. Le record était de 100km. J’ai proposé aux pilotes locaux d’essayer un triangle de 130km qui passe dans la Cordillères. Ils ont osé venir tester avec moi et Julian Rider à réalisé 121km, Pope Paratodos 119km ! J’ai réalisé un triangle de 130km qui est le plus grand vol en triangle du Chili. Il ne fait aucun doute que maintenant que la voie est ouverte que les vols grandisses vite !

Chile is a narrow country bordered by the Andes. As a result, it’s difficult to fly FAI triangle flights. The record was 100km. I suggested to the local pilots to try a 130km triangle that passes in the Cordilleras. They dared to come test with me and Julian Rider realized 121km, Pope Paratodos 119km! I made a 130km triangle which is the largest triangle flight in Chile. There is no doubt that now that the way is open that flights grow fast!

J’ai eu la chance de réaliser la première traversée des Andes centrale en parapente ! Précédentes première aérienne: 1916 première traversée en ballon, 1918 première en avion, 1964 première en planeur.
Je suis parti de Los Andes au Chili pour rejoindre en 2 jours les plateaux Argentin. J’ai dormis sur l’Aconcagua à 6500m pour faire une étape.
Les conditions du premier jour étaient stables. Le second jour difficile à voler car les conditions était très turbulent ! Impossible de poser sur le sommet dans ces conditions!

I had the chance to make the first paragliding crossing of the Andes central! Previous first aerial: 1916 first balloon crossing, 1918 first plane, 1964 first glider.
I left Los Andes in Chile to join in 2 days the Argentine plain. I slept on the Aconcagua at 6500m to make a step.
The conditions of the first day were stable. The second day difficult to fly because the conditions were very turbulent! Impossible to land on the summit in these conditions!

Durant la traversée des Andes j’ai eu la chance de pouvoir survoler 2 fois le sommet de l’Aconcagua, le plus haut sommet d’Amérique (6962m). Le 15 février à 7203m et le 16 février à plus de 7100m !
J’ai passé la nuit entre ces deux journées à 6500m sur la montagne. Température glaciale avec -15°C dans la tente!
La traversé reste trés sauvage et engagé! Je comprends mieux pourquoi personne ne l’avait fait avant.

I spent the night between these two days at 6500m on the mountain. Icy temperature with -15°C in the tent!
The crossing remains very wild and committed! I understand better why nobody had done it before.
